Our Mission

Veteran Children is a film project that brings attention to the struggles, sacrifices and strengths of military children and families. In our half-hour documentary Veteran Children: When Parents Go To War we share the fears, grief, loneliness, trauma and resilience when parents deploy to wars and conflict zones. The profound impacts on family life and mental health are largely untold stories.  We encourage civilians to engage with the military community and we advocate for on-going support services for military families and children.

“Military children serve alongside with their parents and one of their disadvantages is that they don’t have any uniforms. So we don’t even see their service.  But military children serve alongside.”
Dr. Harold Kudler
Duke Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Our Goals

  • Give voice and visibility to millions of military families and children
  • Use our film to promote meaningful discussions and interactions between the military and civilians
  • Advocate for mental health services and support programs for military children and families
  • Inform and inspire civilians to give military families recognition and support
  • Affirm concern for all families and children affected by war
